Congreso Nacional de Chile built in 1876
Former Congreso Nacional de Chile Chamber. Built in 1876, it was destroyed by fire in 1895 and reopened in 1901. The Congress was moved in 1973 to Valpariso by General Pinochet. Declared a national monument in 1976, it housed the ministry of foreign affairs from 2000-2006. The Senate moved its offices back to this building in December 2000. On January 26, 2006 the Chamber of Deputies recovered its old offices.
My nephew is an attorney and works for the government. He got me in for a "private showing" that allowed me to take this picture.
